Loft-style flat in 2024. Is it relevant?
Loft in the interior was particularly popular between 2013 and 2018, we all remember it: brick finishes, an abundance of metal and open spaces. Let's find out how relevant the bare walls and minimal decor remain
Is the loft still alive?
Loft is not only the interior of bars or barbershops from the past decade. The modern loft is understood as applying it to the avant-garde design of penthouses. For designers, this style means imitation of factory premises, industrial workshops. Today, old industrial buildings are often converted for modern needs: coffee shops, cultural spaces, co-working spaces and so on.
Is it good for a flat?
Quite! If you are close to this style, it will be comfortable and pleasant to be in it. But first, let's understand what is characteristic for the loft exactly in the home interior:

  • open plan
  • rough plaster and bare brickwork
  • minimal decoration
  • high ceilings and large windows
  • contrasting colours (mostly cold shades)
  • simple and functional furniture
  • open communications (pipes, ventilation systems)
  • introduction of modern elements (glass partitions, chrome-plated surfaces, technological appliances)
The loft style itself is likely to suit representatives of creative professions, ready for experimentation, young lovers of everything new and unconventional. Those who prefer a spacious, free environment, which does not need to be cluttered with furniture.
What do you need for a loft interior in a flat?
In general, a loft requires a free and open layout. All zoning is done through furniture and other rational solutions. Use glass partitions, wooden shelves with a metal frame, this is the advantage of the loft style - it does not limit you in creative solutions.

Windows should be left large and open, not decorated and not curtained. There should be a lot of space, as well as light. And as for the lighting itself - try to install lamps of different heights, but in the same style. This will give you a completely different picture in the interior.

Contrary to many opinions, the loft style is still relevant in the interior. Yes, it has become less popular, but it is perfect for people in creative professions who appreciate space, freedom and innovation.
