Categorise all expenses into categories. There are usually not too many of them:
- Payment for finishing work
- Cost of materials (rough and finish)
- Associated costs (this includes transporting building materials, cleaning and rubbish removal)
Most of all we will be interested in the cost of materials. But first, let's understand the difference between rough and finish materials for repairs.
Simply put, rough materials are what we won't see when the renovation is complete. Concrete, fibre optics, water pipes and so on.
And finish materials are everything else that we will see around all the time: flooring, wallpaper, outlets and doors.
