Renovation Ideas: 3 unconventional design solutions
Are you also tired of the same-type interiors, which can often be found on the Internet or in the homes of friends? You will learn about three non-standard design options for your flat
Design trends are changing, so you can get tired of the same old solutions and want something unique. So today you will learn about three unconventional design options for your flat.
Antitrends
Often interior trends become mass-produced, boring and outdated. There are many such ‘anti-trends’: excessive minimalism, boring grey interior, furniture from one set, the list goes on for a long time.

Do not forget that fashion is cyclical, and any antitrends can again become relevant over time!

Do not be afraid to do what you like and experiment. And now let's understand a few non-standard solutions in design, which will make your flat special and stylish.
African style
A riot of colours, sunny colours that save you on cloudy days, and works of art from African culture - this is all about the style named after an outlandish continent.

African style is not particularly common in Russia, as it does not suit everyone - but this is what makes it so unconventional and individual.

The main features are:
  • ‘Hot’ colours: sand, yellow, ginger
  • Furniture made of rare woods: mahogany, ebony, afromosaic.
  • Decor: masks, animal figures, animal skins and natural textiles
Eclecticism
Eclecticism is a mix of different styles, eras and decorative elements in one cosy and pleasant space. To make combinations effective and harmonious, it is important to have a sense of taste and an understanding of what works best together. Realisation of eclecticism in the interior requires compliance with some rules:
  • do not mix more than four styles in the interior
  • take into account the balance and proportions, distributing furniture in the space
  • choose one style as the main one, and the rest will be additions to it
  • interior elements may differ in style, but should be unified in their functionality
Remember: eclecticism is a real field for creativity and new solutions. Do not be afraid to change them and bring something new!
Boho
Boho style (French bohémien - bohemian, gypsy) is an interior for true connoisseurs of freedom, both spiritual and material. It is unpretentious, original and always open to new experiments.
What makes it so non-standard?

1. Bright and cheerful colours
Remember Johnny Depp's character in the 2000 film Chocolat? A free-spirited gypsy bard, he's not attached to anything material, loves bright colours and has an excellent sense of style. His role echoes the boho style in many ways.

2. Prioritise comfort
Since boho is a great opportunity for creativity, you'll find an abundance of cushions of different shapes and sizes, as well as free wall, ceiling and floor decoration.

3. Boldness in solutions
Don't be afraid of unusual textures or bright colours, colourful artwork or textiles - experiment and don't forget your comfort.
These are just some of the unconventional renovation solutions that can make your flat truly individual and stylish.
